@beach757 I had a pancreas transplant in 2005 for the purpose of saving my vision and kidney function. (I was diagnosed type 1 diabetic in 1975.) Now I am also anticipating a kidney transplant. My local medical team mainly consists of a primary, endocrinologist, nephrologist and nutritionist. I’ve been on a statin medication for a very long time. It is a medication for cholesterol. My diet is generally low carb, low fat and low sodium. After my pancreas transplant I did not experience an increase in cholesterol. When I had my pretransplant evaluation for kidney transplant I was told that my cholesterol is fine. The information that @rosemarya gave is very good. If you don’t already have one, you will likely get a dietician/nutritionist as you get closer to transplant. That should be helpful as well.
