Hello. I have been experiencing what a suppose is osteoarthritis. Strange events to my body in my solitude can be here provided to you as a list:
Lower hip pain, upper arm pain, losing balance, sciatica attack, sleep in two hour stages, by moving painful area brings relief and my Doc says pain killers can bring on constipation. So on a few days a needy dose of two plain Tylenol a night has let me sleep. Upon a recent check-up with a rheumatologist has led to some understanding of this stage affliction of me this old lady of 80 years. I walk everyday on a treadmill five minutes -up-hill to get as much benefit to my legs for a short session which I complete twice a day. He informed me that a curved spine could be interfering with your sleep. Physical excercises that were learned from a session with a physical therapist a few months earlier are performed regularly apron riding. These wake up movements are good for the immediate efforts in my gait to stand steady and to start the day. Hope my condition will not someday overwhelm completely. Currently my life has been filled with utterly new activities brought about a growing list of infirmaries not get listed here.

Sharing successful routines could open up added ways and idea to a larger group here provided.

If you don't mind sharing, has your rheumatologist or medical provider offered any diagnoses for some of your pain and joint issues? This may help other members join the conversation.

@JustinMcClanahan Upon researching files and notes: scoliosis with disc and facet degeneration; normal pelvis; low back pain ( lumbar sacral ) ... Shallow levoscoliosis of lumbar spine ... narrowing of L4 - 5 and L5 S1 with associative facet degenerative change ; calcification is present within the abdominal aorta that is normal in size. At another visit to another orthopedist during an excruciatingly painful sciatica pain led me to a pain management doctor ...the full body c-scan produced a fine radiological interpretation of my spine ... Followed by an introduction into the promise of relief of pain in my left leg through magical drug shot into my back ... abouta where the closing discs were indicated. Not me! Although the model of the spine was marvelous it was not enough to convince me of a tempory fix for pain ...so impotent without the appropriate muscles, nerves, and skin. Once again moving out of the Pain Management office while holding with a firm squeeze to my left thigh I was able to find and roll into the protective womb of my tank like car. Ancient history allowed a surprise condition was called Osteopenia ...not quite Osteoporasis was charted. Many years ago the kind nurse in the mammography room returned with the exam and the notion that there was missing some calcium and that my number was 60 ... Recommending a prescription to replace perhaps 40 percent of my missing calcium. Never did understand that room. After two years there was no change ... the first year, and after the second year the number remained at 60 ... hence, never again did I see the inside of that nasty office.

@virginiacarol Another way to ease into the day is a long warmly hot shower ... Orthopedist says water heat is s good way to get the blood going ... thankful I can use my shower ... Can't imagine a day without the restorative and caress of clean water. The other day tried straining, twisting to allow myself to drop into the tub landing plop on my butt. The sound of rushing water birthing wild soap suds and the slow luscious stretch into the precious liquid was ... Oh boy, a terrific ... such a soak has not been enjoyed for the past few years. Oh yeah getting up and out of the tub was remarkable accomplishment ... Had to summon my husband after calling him to awake from a deep sleep getting colder, chilly sitting there designing the plan to get out of this mess ... tubbing will never again be on my morning list. (Brought to my patient husband a surprise cup if coffee to his bed with a slice of buttered while wheat, cranberry, and walnut bread ... What a guy.)

Hi, @otherwaytolive That's great that you can walk uphill on a treadmill for 5 minutes a day! Have you looked into exercises by Peggy Cappy (She has videos with exercises for folks with arthritis, etc., or by Pete Egoscue? I have two Egoscue books Pain Free and Pain Free Living -- he also has others -- which help. Best wishes.

@mamie Thank you the suggestion to read and see recommended diagnostic illustrations as exercises are clear. I will certainly look into these materials you recommend. I have been successful in repeating bed-exercises practuced with my PT. along with a hot shower to support the excercises ... The stiffness and pain is stopped. My stammered footsteps when walking about the house is caused by my fear that I could possibly fall starting further problems,
