Barrett’s esophagus
Looking for info and help with Barret’s esophagus. I can’t figure out just how serious this is. I have read way too much online! I don’t really know how strict my diet really has to be. It is really stressful-. Does anyone here have it? And exactly how serious is it?

@riflemanz64 I hope the results will be good for you. It sounds as if you have been very vigilant so they probably will be. The best of course would be to find out that you are in remission. If so, I will be curious to hear if your doctor still wants you to take a PPI. I just can't help feeling that it may not be necessary right now and I hate taking drugs that I really do not need.

I've done all that I can do, I've watched my diet, took the pantaprazole medicine, never eat after meals or 3hrs before bedtime. I drink lots of water, no booze or soda ever. I'll ask my Dr. about the drug.
I had my EGD for Barrett's on Nov-19. The Dr. came by the recovery room and said everything looks great!
He said he took a few biopsies and would call me. So the nurse called today and said I might have stomach cancer from the biopsies he took. There sending me to a oncologist. The nurse then told me to have a great weekend which I replied how can I after talking to you. So now we'll see how this chapter turns out. Bummed out for the weekend! He also said I have chronic Gastritis. Is this the right group for stomach cancer posts?
@riflemanz64 Dammit! I hate that for you! But you said the nurse said “might have” — so hopefully it is NOT cancer! Praying for riflemanz64 🙏🙏🙏
I'm praying that it isn't cancer. Thanks for your prayers pdilly!
@riflemanz64 - Let’s hope it’s not cancer. Could mean some other abnormality.
About the nurse calling you with this news- it’s not OK. The doctor should talk to you and explain. Best is face- to-face. Also- one NEVER calls with this message before a weekend, unless it is something that needs to be taken care of at once.
Let’s hope and pray.
I can certainly understand you being "bummed out for the weekend" @riflemanz64. That was an inconsiderate way to be given the news of a possible cancer diagnosis.
I hope that you get better news when you meet with the oncologist. Will you post again when your oncology appointment is scheduled?
Will do!
