Thank you for all this info. It is my brother and he is doing great now. However, while reading your post it made me think of something. I take Dexilant use to take the purple pill for GERD they say it should only be used temporarily and now insurance won't pay for it to take daily. Have you ever been on either of these. Do you know if they are a PPI also? I am thinking maybe just switching to prevacid over the counter instead. Thoughts?

I have been on Dexilant for over a year, and I have not had any problems. I have had one episode of heartburn but that was my fault by missing the pill. So that tells you how well it works. What is this PPI that you all are talking about? I haven't heard about it at all from any doctor and I have 8, its kind of strange that not one of them have said anything.

@barb2025 I just googled dexilant and yes, it is a PPI. It is one that has special granules, some that do not release until later so a person who is having GERD has protection for a more extended amount of time.
