I was just diagnosed in Nov with BE and I having trouble figuring out which fruits are acceptable since they are supposed to help prevent EC. Do you know if apples, pears and peaches are ok? I know bananas are ok. This somewhat new diagnosis has been quite frightening and I seem to get a lot of conflicting info. I feel like I am eating too many whole grains and not enough fruit or vegis.

With Gastropaneisis.. I eat nearly any fruit...no leafy greens, unless cut up very small..I can't eat broccoli.. green beans don't work either...but with a blender I can make really good smoothies of nearly anything, .. except broccoli...cut fiber into very short pieces...skins have to be cut up very small... sweet potatoes are my favorite... avocados and tomatoes are so good with fresh mozzarella... olive oil and reduced balsamic vinegar is the best..

Welcome to the BE forum. Don't be afraid of Barrett's and go with the diet to keep it stable. Apples and pears are acidic. For fruit eat cut up melon. Ripe bananas are less acidic too. For veggies I eat broccoli, Lima beans, spinach, green beans, cauliflower, carrots, and corn on the cob. Stay away from fried anything. I get a diet book today so I'll post what is safe after reading it.

@maxsproudmom My Mayo Dr. tells me let your body be your guide, if you eat an apple and it gives you reflux, don't eat apples. What works for me is to eat small meals and if you can eat your large meal at noon and your lunch sized meal at dinner. No food 3 hours prior to bed time and no chocolate, rats.
