I have a 22mm stone in my left kidney. My urologist wanted to do PCNL procedure, but said that the stone is in a such a location that PCNL is not an option. He said they could do ltihotripsy, but doesn't like that option since the stone is so large. Therefore, he is referring me to MAYO. What do you think the doctors at MAYO can do that my doctor could not. Thank you
@remaghdia Hi Marnie, thank you and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! It is interesting to read your experience with kidney stones, and how they were resolved. You did exactly what we do here, that is, share your symptoms and experience, and what the outcome was for you, what worked for you. Since each person is different, it helps to hear different perspectives. I had a kidney stone once, several decades ago, that resolved without intervention, but the pain was indescribable. My father was prone to kidney stones, but I never found out if they were calcium or uric acid based. He went through lithotripsy and stents, also. So, how much water a day are you drinking, now?
