Thanks, I'll check it out.

Hi @wsh66 @lioness,

Homeopathy is widely practiced in India, (where I'm from, originally), and I just wanted to offer a few thoughts in this really interesting conversation taking place on Connect.

Remember the saying, "like cures like?" That's the foundation for homeopathy – that an illness can be cured by giving a medicine which, if given to a healthy person, will produce similar symptoms of that same illness but to a much lesser degree.
For example, if a patient has severe nausea, he/she is given a homeopathic medicine which would cause mild nausea in a healthy person. If you want to learn more about homeopathy, the American Institute of Homeopathy, http://homeopathyusa.org/homeopathic-medicine.html, has some very good information.

I also use Arnica gel or cream for muscular aches and pains, headaches – and it works almost miraculously most of the time.
That being said, it is absolutely critical that in an acute illness (or any illness), such complementary medicine should be considered only after consulting with, and being assessed by your doctor. There's tons of research which shows that homeopathy cannot replace traditional healthcare, and it should be seen as a complementary treatment, not as an alternative. This means that a homeopathic medicine would not be prescribed when a conventional treatment is actually the better option for a patient.

I don't think there is anything wrong with trying OTC gels, balms and topical applications like Arnica, but if you are considering taking anything orally, or ingesting it, I would sincerely encourage you to consult with your doctor or a specialist. Thank you, again for such a great discussion.

Thank you Gail for your info also on homeopathy As you say always consult your Dr.and it works as an aid to help but only the Dr can give you the right medicine. Just want to say I've been drinking the tea of and on ,not every day it does help ,follow it up with water ,only one cup for me relieved my pain but it may not be for everyone.
