Hello @lorraine3 and welcome to Mayo Connect. I see that this is your first post on Connect and I'm glad that you asked this question about medications. On Mayo's website I found two articles about anti-depressants. The first one is about SSRIs and second one is about SNRIs. Perhaps some of our Members who have used these will respond about the effectiveness of these medications.

If you care to share more, how long have you been dealing with anxiety? Have you tried any other medications?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Teresa

I have been dealing with anxiety, in one form or another, since adolescence. I have tried several medications and therapies, including CBT.

@lorraine3 Same here although I did know thus. I gave up on medications in 2010. Went off quite a cocktail cold turkey in 2010. I have been prescribed some at different times and this patient does say "NO" to drugs. My safest action is to stay a way from MD,s. They are trained in this realm. I have seen what prescription drugs have done to some and know what they have done to me. My worst nightmare was a VNS. That has since been removed. Dreadful results as my body kept resetting the contraption. It truly did. Some of us have more electricity in our bodies than others. I tried to tell the doctors before it was placed that I could not wear battery operated watches. Nothing more than a guinea pig in the mental health realm.
