Has anyone suffering with acid reflux/GERD tried drinking kefir as an alternative to Yogurt? I also have IBS so I would need to use one if the lactose free products.

Hi, @jackiem95 Jackie, I can't answer your question, but I have one for you. I am going through some lactose intolerance or IBS now. I have an appointment coming up next week with the NP for a gastroenterologist. Apparently, you are also having problems with lactose. How do you know if it's lactose intolerance, or IBS? I am trying to figure that out myself. I suspect IBS because it does seem as if some days I have no lactose yet still have a problem, but then I never sure if some lactose may have snuck into something I ate.
By the way, I tried Kefir one time and hated it.
Thanks.
JK

I drink Kefir because I need the probiotics. I am trying to recover from Cdiff so I have to a probiotic. I’m lactose intolerant too & I drink lifeway. They have different have several that are lactose free.

My primary concern at the moment is actually whether kefir could trigger an episode of my acid reflux. I guess it is kind of “fizzy”?

Where do you live? Is there a Sprouts market there? They have lactose free yogurt, cream cheese and sour cream with the brand name Green Valley. I think the yogurt is low fat but not fat free—but not sure since I don’t have any in my fridge right now. I do have some yogurt made by Yoplait (called Q) that is made with 2% milk and is 99% lactose free. I actually thought that all lactose products were allowed to say they were lactose free if they only have that little lactose. Anyway I am getting off of my original concern about kefir and acid reflux.
