@marazion

I don't know your specific drug but my experience getting off ATIVAN taught me to reduce very very gradually by 10% weekly ... which meant careful pill cutting. Exercise, meditation and boring glasses of water helped me control the side effects...coffee, my drug of choice, made it even more difficult. Now, two years later...I am a different person..

The instructions for your drug states"A gradual reduction in the dose, rather than abrupt cessation, is recommended whenever possible. In clinical studies with Effexor XR, tapering was achieved by reducing the daily dose by 75 mg at one-week intervals. Individualization of tapering may be necessary [see Warnings and Precautions (5.7)].

Thank you so much for responding. I know now that I should have reduced gradually but I didn’t, so I just wondered what would be best to do now, after the fact. Thanks

Wow! I’m tapering off Effexor also and your information was exactly what I’m doing so thanks a lot. I feel better about my way of tapering.
Thanks

Hi, @pinkhorse --just wanted to touch base and see if you are feeling any better now that you are a little further away from coming off the vanlafaxine? Did you by chance get to speak to your doctor about the symptoms you were experiencing?

I think tapering is the way to go for sure
