Hi @cokie63, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I have no medical training or background but from all that I have read about vitamin B6 it's processed different by your body. High levels can be toxic and cause neuropathy. B12 is different. The body gets rid of what it doesn't need. You are good being your own advocate and learning as much as you can about your condition. I can believe it's from taking a supplement. Have you asked your neurologist/doctor how long it takes for the body to get rid of the excess B6?

Elevated B6 levels and peripheral neuropathies.

Hi John, I got the peripheral neuropathy pain and confusion one month BEFORE I took the vitamin B-complex and the vitamin B12. My folate and homocysteine is normal. I just found out my calcium level is high now and I don't take calcium. I guess we might be looking into bone marrow cancer. I stopped the vitamin d-3 and ester-c (only took C for 5 days). I stopped the probiotic and the fish oil. Not taking any supplements at all now. I never took a multi-vitamin either. The doctor thinks it could have been an allergic reaction to the flu shot. My body is going haywire. Doctor said I could try prednisone but I'd rather wait to see what the spinal tap shows. I'm slowly getting better but today it's more the lower extremities and mostly my left leg is burning and rushing with the neuropathy and my feet. It's really bizarre how it changes each day, days or weeks what it does. I ordered 3 air purifiers last night. Trying anything. I'm even sleeping on the couch. Nice to talk to someone who listens and cares and doesn't think I'm crazy. Thank you.

Hi johnbishop, I don't know what's going on with the B6 but I am going to ask for a retest of the B6 and B12 and calcium. My calcium is also too high now. I did find some crucial information to this puzzle of the peripheral neuropathy. I believe it is from the Flu Vaccine I got on November 15th. Yesterday I found my blood work from the day I had the flu shot and the Physician Assistant had run my calcium level and my calcium was perfect. After the onset of this peripheral neuropathy, I was tested for calcium by my new medical doctor and she found my calcium is too high now. The culprit goes back to the Flu Vaccine. No one knows our bodies better than we do.
