Heart palpitations with anxiety?

I have had palpitations, but under extreme anxiety (usually after an event has occurred oddly enough!), but they have been rare for me. I have had esophageal spasms that were attributed to either a bad fall on black ice or because of swallowing too many pills daily. (40 mg. of prednisone meant swallowing 8 pills daily along with thyroid, cholesterol meds etc.)
