Being ghosted by my neurologist SEVERAL TIMES has caused ,(for lack of a better expression), PTSD.. unanswered calls and messages gave me no other choice than to go to the ERto get steroids on more then 1 occasion. Questions regarding medications go unanswered. The problem is where does one go or do? An appointment for a new neurologist is a minimum of 6 months out. Health records are connected between hospitals which can make communication problems even worse. What does one do?

Hi @cubbymermaid
I’m very sorry about what you’ve been through. Unanswered calls and messages, and having to go to the ER, would leave anyone shaken.
I agree with @dannoyes about being the commander of my own health. That doesn’t mean replacing my doctor. I want to work with him as a team, and to do so, I also have to do my part.
I’m outside the US, so I can’t speak to the wait for a new appointment, but since it can be long, one idea is to book the new neurologist now while you stay with your current one in the meantime, in case you need care before then. It might also help to ask to be put on a cancellation list.
As I already mentioned in my reply to @zeeboo here in this discussion, the Epilepsy Foundation may help you find a new neurologist. Give it a try!
If you feel comfortable sharing, roughly where do you live (the state or region)? Perhaps another member of our group lives nearby and could suggest a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy, or an epileptologist.
