Good evening! Thank for the update. My appointment is November 16th. With Dr Hughes or NP. I’m so glad you got to go and have someone that knows exactly about our situation. Someone experienced for sure. Did you say they will see you back in 6 months? And did they tell you about any limitations? Like lifting?
I live 3 in half hrs away from Duke so it’s not close .
How far do you live ?
What is your dilation ?
Did she say what stage will they recommend surgery?
Thank you again for telling me . It means a lot to hear from others .
Much love and prayers to all !
Angie

Hey Angie, you are very welcome. She did say no heavy lifting, control blood pressure & cholesterol. I had two test back in June & one showed a dilation of 4.1 & the other is 4.2. They are having me do an MRI or CT next June so basically at 12 months from the last one, then I will have another appointment with Melissa, Dr Hughes NP. She said normal readings for an assending aorata is 3.0 to 3.8 & for my size they would recommend surgery at 5.0. I’m 5 ft 4 inches & 140 lbs. I didn’t know the location of my aneurism but she said mine is in an area that doesn’t typically grow fast so hopefully I won’t need surgery for a long time. I live about 50 minutes from Duke. She also gave me a paper to share with my kids & siblings recommending they get checked since it could be hereditary. I don’t know of anybody in my family with it but my father walked away when I was 3 & that whole side of the family is basically absent. It’s definitely helpful to be able to talk with others experiencing the same issue.
Sending prayers for everyone!
Laurie
