@gingerw You are so right about the conflicting advice one can get. I have prediabetes, heart disease (as a stroke survivor), chronic kidney disease, and cystic fibrosis. The dietary recommendations for each of these conditions are different, in some cases VERY different. If I tried to eliminate all of the foods that one or more diets said I should eliminate, I think I would have to subsist on air and water.

@ckscoville I always joke to people that my ideal diet is oatmeal, applesauce, and cardboard LOL

My renal diet for kidneys is strict, then add in the food plan for gout, plus cardiac, well, you get the picture! And, it seems each day/week is a challenge to eat to be well but want to eat what is on the plan. Today my craving is carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!
