I'm amazed if someone says their biopsy wasn't painful. I had one in each breast through the years.....then the one last year that resulted in the BC diagnosis, and it was so painful. They didn't wait for the lidocaine to numb me and then it didn't, so had to do a second dose, terrible bruising. One years ago was an injection right by the
nipple and they had me stand that entire time......not sure what medieval torture that was meant to be, but it was bad. While they tell us how sensitive our breasts are, full of nerves......well, yes? So, why are some of these procedures done with so little concern for being numb? I fussed about those nipple injections before surgery to do the dye......surgeon said no worries, so many women have complained that now she only does it after we are anesthetized. Insane. It's always a time and money issue, so they "can't" take the time for nitrous or a mild sedative I guess to help us through it all; as if the mental part isn't also so wrought with anxiety. Best wishes to all, post biopsy.

I can't imagine standing through that! You should get extra karma points.
I'm getting my first biopsy in two days. I will be taking a mild sedative. I'm quite sure that holding myself completely motionless while a needle is inserted into my breast is impossible. The radiologist who read my ultrasound is certain that it is cancer due to the shape and circumstances - 2 cm that showed up in one year, uneven margins, etc. Not reassuring at all.
