Has Gabapentin helped anyone out there?

Gabapentin has helped my idiopathic polyneuropathy. Very little tingling and acute shocks. I also know that I am having fatigue and cognitive difficulties. I have a family history of Alzheimer's, so I am not sure how much the gabapentin is causing the cognitive problems. Gabapentin has a bad history, that is factual, but it is better than some of the other things I have had. I have BPH and other things have prevented urination, which is not acceptable. Other meds also cause dry mouth, which I hate; so gabapentin is acceptable for me.

@coachrandy I totally agree, I realize I need it for the burning in thighs for idiopathic polyneropathy also!

@coachrandy
The vast majority of seizure medications definitely cause cognitive problems. As far as dementia is concerned there is no causation that has ever been proven between dementia and gabapentin.

@coachrandy Gabapentin causes memory problems and memory loss. Forgetfulness and many other things. My neuromuscular neurologist would not prescribe it for me due to biological father diagnosed with dementia. I do not know him but speak with his sister.
