@joe88 It's good that the radiologist seems to think the nodules are benign. That's good news. I think I would believe your radiologist. He does this for a living. You'll probably be told they're benign and they'll just keep an eye on them.
Yes, it's true that non small cell lung cancer is no longer a death sentence. I have the EGFR mutation. (No cancer history in my family-mom had breast cancer and had mastectomies in her late 50's but had a heart attack at age 76 due to smoking 44 years although she quit at age 60. The damage was done. I take a targeted treatment drug that seems to be working for me with minimal side effects called Tagrisso at 80 mg. daily. I had six chemo treatments with cisplatin & alimpta, and 3 with just Alimpta that ended nearly a mont ago. Yes, I had that many CT scans & PET scans! The tumor has shrunk a little and the metasteses have gone away! I had one on my skull, in my brain and lymph node. I was devastated at the diagnosis, needless to say. I saw here that people have used the targeted treatment (just for stage 4 lung cancer -non small cell) for years. There are many drugs on the horizon. My oncologist has a patient who has been on Tagrisso for 16 years! Very encouraging. One day at a time. I was lucky that my side effects for the chemo were minimal. Mostly fatigue and a little nausea. Some loss of appetite on Cisplatin, but lately I have been gaining weight and eating well and not feeling that bad. I'm a little anemic. I look forward to hearing about your doctor visit on the 18th. I really think it'll be good news.

@medtech4 I think it is good as well at the moment but I know things change and thats what im concerned about. Especially having one at 5mm and then having two nodules in the upper lobes. That is a good sign of cancer from what I researched.
Thank you for telling me that non small cell is no longer a death sentence. I remember 20 years ago, once you had lung cancer, plan your goodbyes. Scary to say the least. Doesn't the EGFR mutation happen because of smoking? I thought i recall reading about that. Wow. Your mom was a good old lady, smoked 44 years and she passed away from the heart attack at 76? Wow, it seems like that drug Tagrisso does wonders. I am happy that it is working for you with minimal side effects. Happy for you buddy. Im sorry, sounds like you were a walking radiation toy for awhile. Hey, the metastasis gone away, right on my friend! Thats the best news of all! I bet you were devastated hearing the news on the skull and lymph node. Man, that is absolutely horrible. That is incredible, your oncologist has a patient who is 16 years in remission, wow! That is very encouraging! Great for him! I am happy that you were able to overcome those hiccups with the side effects and feeling better. Thank you for wishing me good news on the 18th but I seriously doubt it. Having 2 upper lobe nodules and smoking with a one time big exposure with abestos. I can almost guarantee a cancerous diagnosis. I seriously hope not but that is what my gut is telling me. I will definitely let you know. I have a phone number if you want to keep in contact my friend? Just let me know. Thank you sir.
