Hi@mamajite. I composed a note to my doctor (pulmonologist) that I see on the 18th. Hello Dr. Farhad. Thank you so much for taking me as a patient. I am truly blessed to have you as my pulmonologist. I am composing this note to assist you and give you a background of why we are here. Doctor, I truly hope, pray, and wish to hear you say that what you're looking at is not a case of present or future cancer but unfortunately, after researching and taking risk assessments for lung cancer, I feel that my hope of not wanting cancer is going to end up the complete opposite and be a case of malignancy. Doctor, when I was about 10 years old, I was exposed to asbestos, and the exposure was a sheet of insulation that was lined with asbestos, and I thought it was something harmless, I played with it. I smoked cigarettes for approximately 19 years, half a pack a day (10 cigarettes a day), and a habit. Like everyone, I have been exposed to radon and other pollutants from gas exhaust. Going back to the abestos, I read several articles that smoking cigarettes and being exposed to abestos raises the risk of lung cancer astronomically. I am truly paralyzed with fear doctor and afraid to die. I know there are individuals who get lung cancer in the 40s, but I read that it is uncommon and that the majority of people who get diagnosed with lung cancer happen when they are in their mid 60's to early 70s. That's why I am certain that my exposure to abestos and cigarettes has sped that process much faster to now. What else caught my attention was that two of the nodules were in the upper right lobe, and that location in the upper lobe is a strong indication for malignancy. I have been crying, hitting my head, praying for this to be non-cancerous. Thank you so much, doctor, for reading. I just wanted to give you some important information.

@joe88 it's really good you've got an appointment this week. until then, try to take your mind off of worrying (it won't change anything.) the unknown time is the hardest for many of us, where nodules are found on imaging, but we don't know what they are yet. until you have a biopsy - you won't know if it's cancer or not. one thing that keeps me hopeful is that there are many new treatment options for lung cancer. if you're still smoking, looking into programs that can help you stop would also be helpful. you can also make a list of questions you would like to ask your doctor this week. let us know how your appointment goes.
