Is anyone dealing with S I Joint Pain?

Hey I’m sorry you’re struggling with this. I have had SI joint issues for quite a while myself. The SI joint isn’t really meant to articulate like your other joints but to flex a bit as you move. Sometimes nerves get trapped or pinched which is what causes the pain. I would be very careful about chiropractic care, I went once and was in pain for a week. I have had steroid injections too, some worked better than others but none “cured” it.
I do PT for it and it’s mostly focused on strengthening the surrounding muscles so the joint doesn’t slip as much and impinge on the nerves.
It’s been a very long road. I finally asked my pain management doctor if I could just have an ablation where they burn the nerves and hopefully provide relief that lasts from 6 months up to a couple of years. First was a diagnostic lidocaine injection to confirm that it’s the SI joint that is the root of the pain and not something else. Then I had the actual ablation done earlier this week. It can take a few weeks for the nerves to die off before I’ll know if it worked. They numbed my SI area with lidocaine and then placed 6 radio frequency needles along the joint . They tested to be sure they were only hitting sensory and not motor nerves, then they “heated” the needles to destroy the sensory nerves.
Fingers crossed! It’s too soon for me to tell if it worked but I’m hopeful. I really didn’t want an SI joint fusion, I’ve heard too many negative outcomes from that.
Be careful with the chiropractor! I do really hope it works for you but if it doesn’t maybe this might be the solution for you.
