@laughlin1947 I am not experiencing the "Over these past few years, it seems to me that surgeons want (eagerly) to operate and not offer other treatment options." that you mention. I went to my orthopedic surgeon expecting to schedule TKR, but despite sever bone-on-bone imaging he strongly encourage me to try HA injections and told me that his uncle delayed TKR for 5 years by using them.

Various TKR surgeons with videos on YouTube (eg Talking With Docs, two Canadians) all strongly recommend alternative therapies first.

@kfhoz I have watches several of the Canadian doctor videos and they are pretty interesting but not as specific in terms of treatment regimens as I would like. They were pretty strong in terms of recommending the HLA option for knee injections, but they were low key in terms of the emphasis in verbalizing their likes. To me, they were recommending HLA treatment as the highest recommendation, but that is where it ended - no mention of higher viscosity versions such as Durolane, no expected frequency of repeat injections, no mention of future research results. They need to open up the discussion a bit more.
