Thank you so much for telling me this, I know I am reading too much and researching too much, and I am doing the same thing… Scaring myself about anything that could go wrong. Unfortunately, I don’t necessarily think we know what will be the exact best choice, (Or should I say at least worst choice), until we pick one, and hopefully it’s the right one. I have not spoken to anyone who has had a mastectomy, So I am trying to see what others Experiences have been. Thank you again. ❤️

@michelenyny you are NEVER reading too much or researching too much. O matter the diagnosis we each live in a different body. As you can read in these postings!
When my docs said "you're reading too much, stop reading" I knew that that those particular docs would no longer be mine. When the surgeon insisted I have reconstruction at age 78, that was the END.
Received a recommendation for a totally different surgeon within the same health care system. He was totally different: sat with me a full hour answering every question, discussing options not insisting he was always right OR I was always wrong!
My DCIS in 2002 had returned as ILC in 2024. Just 6 weeks ago at age 80, I had a unilateral mastectomy and now I'm proudly FLAT WHITE, just like the coffee drink I learned about in Australia.
Do your research, ask questions, listen to advice, pray, but be strong enough to go with your gut because nobody else is YOU. YOU know your own body and will have to live with the results no matter what you decide! Nothing in this life is guaranteed...with love and prayers for you as you also travel this bumpy road known as breast cancer.
