Aquablation: Post-surgery expectations

I am 16 days post-aquablation, which I had done by a world class surgeon at a private London hospital. I think the recovery is going as well as can be expected, although the inevitable flash of blood at the beginning of urination continues to be a bit alarming, even though I was told to expect this; ditto, the burning sensation which can be greater or less depending, it seems, on the time of day. My urine, once it gets going, is often more or less a “normal” colour but it does turn rusty or tea coloured some days. I am trying to avoid beverages which will irritate the surgical site (and there is a great deal of advice online urging people to only have water for weeks post-aquablation) and am certainly not drinking alcohol. I am avoiding exertion apart from walking 15-20 minutes a day. My energy levels are only slowly returning to more normal levels. Nonetheless, I go back to work today - I am a swimming teacher, and will do a three hour shift later on today, trying to stay seated for as much of it as possible. My surgeon has approved this.
So, on balance, I am frustrated, I guess, by the slowness with which this is all resolving, but not experiencing any red flags to date. I feel that I was not told plainly how slow and uncomfortable the recovery would be.
Does any of this chime with others’ experience?

@rcwjrstreet Sounds much like me. The flash of blood and sometimes tissue lasted until about 7-10 days ago and the pink ended 4-5 days ago. Stream is good and only got up once last night. Energy is slowly returning but I would like faster. My advice is try to be patient. Brighter days are coming!

@rcwjrstreet I had aquablation done one year ago. I too was discouraged the first several weeks. But after about 4 weeks my urine was clear and I had pretty good control of when I urinated. I did experience urgency for a few more weeks, but as time progressed that lessened, and I awoke less and less during the night with the need to pee. So from my experience I can tell you that things will get better. One suggestion that I have for you is that you could probably increase the amount of time that you are walking. Perhaps do two or three different sessions per day when you walk 15 to 20 minutes.
