@merwin You didn't mention whether you were fluent in Dutch. Also, could you confirm that you are being invited to live in their homes, not just near them? (My inclination is to stay where you are, but then, I'm horrified at the idea of trying to set up a new life anywhere else.)

@emaureen Almost everyone in Amsterdam speaks english and I bet they have a wonderful health program

no, definitely not fluent in Dutch – – it’s not the easiest language for me. Both of my daughters are open to either having me live with them or close by. My Alaska daughter has three grade school, aged children and even staying with them for two weeks in the summer gets to be a bit stressful for me. I hear you (or read you) re the horrification of moving and setting up a new life somewhere else at this age. Doctors, dentist, community support —-ai-yi-yi.
