@carol1965 I got a second opion about getting my meningioma removed surgically or zapped with radiation. The second opinion pointed out a biopsy can be done if removed surgically, but with radiation, no biopsy is possible. Hope this helps. Hugs!

@ladytri Not really. A needle biopsy is done prior to treatment, if needed. Surgery should not be needed just to have a biopsy. 90% of meningiomas are benign and radiation can be done to kill cancerous meningiomas in some cases. I wouldn’t choose surgery over radiation just to get a biopsy and don’t believe a good neurologist would either. I had Gammaknife radiation 3 years ago on a 4cm tumor and it’s dead and shrinking. No after effects other than being on anti-seizure meds.
