@lisalucier thanks for moving me to this convo. It’s my primary doctor who just said I should do PT for the neck pain. I’m not against that but the fact that the report says indents the cord worries me considering my other symptoms. I’m feeling “okay” today in terms of going through life and not getting worse. Still frustrating though. I think I will see a spine specialist so it can be settled either way.

@zachary777 I would agree that compression of the spinal cord should be addressed. Damage can occur even if it isn’t showing up on an MRI. Once it shows there as a whitish area inside the spinal cord, it may be permanent. Decompression surgery done earlier has a better chance of resolving compression issues. I had slight compression of the spinal cord in my neck and surgery resolved all the pain and coordination issues. I do have some loss of arm strength and I would have done this sooner if any of the surgeons I saw would help. My symptoms confused them and 5 refused so I came to Mayo and had surgery that changed my life. Surgeons can refuse for a lot of reasons and the good ones have long wait lists. Do you have a good specialist in mind for a consultation? PT does help and can ease things before surgery.
