After my BM last year and started on an AI this test was not offered to me. Only the oncotype testing was done which was below 25. Chemo not indicated for me.
I did my own research on the Signatera test and wondered why it was not offered to me. My surgery and cancer care is with a top cancer facility in the country. But then I changed my breast oncologist (closer to home) and I, myself, brought up the test and it was done. A negative result. I am back with my former providers where I had my surgery now. It is due again in September and will ask my onco to test again. Yes, I agree with all - it is simply a tool in the box. Just like the cancer markers. But I believe (& I could be wrong here) for a positive Signatera test follow up cancer testing is done and the test results not ignored...unless very low?
My personal feeling is to ask for the test if it is not offered to you. But that's my personal opinion.
Everyone is different in their treatment plan for cancer. Every cancer is different.
Yes, discuss with your physician and take it from there. I am glad I had it done.
But and it's a big but - you want that negative result, so it is scary waiting for the result!
That is THE worst thing about this test. The wait period for a result.
