What is the best probiotic to take while on triple antibiotic therapy?

@sueinmn I’m seeing a pulmonologist, have been going to him for a few years for COPD and bronchitis bouts. The current infection appeared on a CT scan earlier this year when he gave the option of a biopsy or trying one last round of antibiotics- I chose the latter. That didn’t work so I had the biopsy in June and didn’t get the results until early August. When he told me I had MAC and requiring all these antibiotics for the next year I was so shocked didn’t really pay much attention to the M-F routine. He just commented that the schedule would give my body a break for recovery each week. I just stumbled over discrepancy from the norm thru AI and this group. I do plan to send him a note questioning the proposed treatment. Thanks for your interest - only comment so far.

@jessmac I am not a professional and have only been at all this with my having been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and my MAC infection since 2023.
However something sounds amiss for several reasons. One being your having to wait until August from June to get the results and as Sue said above about the med schedule.
Are you seeing someone who is in a Center of Excellence health system.?
So many individuals have needed pulmonologists that concentrate more on people with Bronchiectasis rather than be a generalist pulmonologist. Too many pulmonologists are out there on there own without studying the most recent information about the diseases they are suppose to be helping with. They often are not up to snuff with all lung protocols. This happened to me after seeing my generalist pulmonologist the third time. I realized he was not up to snuff and I immediately made an appointment with National Jewish Hospital.
Sorry to give you all this to think about, but it is your health and we need experts with having this lung problem.

@jessmac I’m assuming 3 times a week is for a maybe minor infection (if there’s such a thing) and every day would be for more serious problem. Maybe he figures I’m in between minor and serious so opted for the middle of the two time frames??
