@jessmac You are right, that is quite unusual. Did the doctor explain the reason for this departure from normal protocol? Are you seeing a pulmonologist and/or infectious disease doc who specializes in treating MAC?

@sueinmn I’m seeing a pulmonologist, have been going to him for a few years for COPD and bronchitis bouts. The current infection appeared on a CT scan earlier this year when he gave the option of a biopsy or trying one last round of antibiotics- I chose the latter. That didn’t work so I had the biopsy in June and didn’t get the results until early August. When he told me I had MAC and requiring all these antibiotics for the next year I was so shocked didn’t really pay much attention to the M-F routine. He just commented that the schedule would give my body a break for recovery each week. I just stumbled over discrepancy from the norm thru AI and this group. I do plan to send him a note questioning the proposed treatment. Thanks for your interest - only comment so far.
