I feel hot almost all of the time. I have hot flashes a few times a day. Drinking ice water seems to help, and going outside helps too. I don't notice it when I am outside, which seems odd to me. It is as if I don't have a thermostat- my body cannot adjust to air conditioning- I put on a jacket but then have to take it off within about five minutes because I get too hot, if I am in a grocery store or restaurant where the air conditioning is so cold. I sleep under only a sheet at night, but sometimes get too cold and use a blanket, only to have to remove it because I get too hot. After going to about eight different specialists at Vanderbilt Medical Center, I discovered Dr. Huddleston at the Vanderbilt Covid Clinic. He is treating me now. He explained that everything that happens in your body begins in the lower intestine. He told me to follow these recommendations:
1. No consumption of cow's milk. No ice cream or soft cheese products like sour cream, cottage cheese. Aged cheese that's hard, like Cheddar or Swiss, is ok in small portions. Reduce dairy consumption by 80%.
2. Take 5,000 units of Vitamin D a day.
3. Get 30 minutes of sunshine a day.
4. Take 1 spore probiotic capsule with water a day, in the morning.
5. Take 2 magnesium threonate capsules at night.
I began having the heat sensations within two weeks after I had Covid in November 2023. My neurologist prescribes pregabalin, which I take now, and my PCP prescribes Veozah, the new pill for hot flashes that has come on the market in the last 1.5 years. These have helped me deal with the heat sensations. The pregabalin affects my balance and my ability to recall information, but it helps me not to have the jittery, anxious feeling that came with the hot flashes.
Dr. Huddleston said it will take three to six months before I will see any improvement. I am one month into this. Will report later if there is any change. Good luck to everyone in dealing with your condition!

@mjm1947 that is great to hear that there are actual MDs who believe what science has been saying - that the gut is responsible for so much of our overall health, and what goes on in our bodies…
