I have noticed that I no longer see a specific provider name in the appointment schedule when I have my first visit in a new area. Though sometimes it appears prior to the appointment. If you're concerned about it being a PA vs. an MD, you can call and make that request. Though PAs at Mayo are excellent and overseen by an MD.
As the previous poster mentioned, your records will be reviewed, and you will be assigned to a provider who best fits your condition.

In most cases you will be seen initially by a resident and the big cheese. I can recall just one time when my first visit was with a main doctor and not a resident or PA.
