I have numbness in my feet and legs but now notice the numbness has advanced and is also in my thighs. I'm concerned it will soon be in my arms and hands. Walking has become difficult and balance is hard. I'm afraid to step off a small curb without assistance.

Welcome @accordionsolo, It's understandable to be concerned about progression of a disease. Probably the best thing we can do to help ourselves is learn as much as we can about the condition, treatments available and lifestyle changes if any we can make to help ourselves. My numbness started in my toes many years ago and has gradually spread into my feet and lower legs. Many of us also have balance issues.

There are many causes of neuropathy, including nutritional and toxic neuropathies. Here's some information on the topic if you want to learn more - https://neuropathycommons.org/neuropathy/causes-neuropathy/management-nutritional-and-toxic-neuropathies.

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy recently had a webinar on balance that you might find helpful - https://www.foundationforpn.org/events/steady-on-your-feet-preventing-falls-through-mindfulness-daily-practices/.

Have you been diagnosed with neuropathy or looked into any exercises or physical therapy to help with your balance?

@accordionsolo Please, if you have any problems with balance, use of a cane or walker is very important. I’ve also been fortunate to get some Physical Therapy to strengthen my leg muscles too. Just a thought… 🙏
