@johnzzz I am so sorry you are living through this situation. It is very interesting to me that your case and my case both occurred at Mass Gen Brigham. My doctor, Adam Kibel, is one of the best robotic surgeons in the world, and Dr. Steele is one of the preeminent open surgeons in the world. Both work at Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's. With Dr. Kibel telling me a lymphocele only happens to <1% of his patients, I bet Dr. Steele has the same low occurrence rate, but it is disturbing that both of us were treated at Mass Gen/B&W. I recommend you ask Dr. Steele or your radiologist if sclerotherapy is the path they will pursue is the 300-400cc per day does not go down soon. That was my path. I was at over 600cc, then down to 400-500cc after two weeks, so they started me on sclerotherapy. It is pretty simple. They inject an antibiotic into the drain after removing as much fluid as they can. The antibiotic helps to shrink the capsule that is collecting the fluid. I went once a week for 5-6 weeks. My total journey from drain insertion to removal was 56 days. During the first sclerotherapy session, they also inserted a larger drain tube to help it drain more fluid. I had a VNA nurse 1-2 times a week to change the drain site dressing as it got very smelly as it the fluid escaped around the tube. I wish you the best. I would be interested in what explanation Dr. Steele gave you.

We have had at least one other person report exactly what you’re experiencing in the last six months. It is unusual to happen, but it does for some people due to taking out lymph nodes and not sealing the area. Waiting for only 10 cc seems to be a little bit less than I’ve heard from other people.
