@neesie0159 I'm sorry you went through anorexia too. I understand the regret, but its a mental disorder that is very very hard to overcome. My anorexia did not start until I was already diagnosed with osteoporosis. I was diagnosed at age 34 with osteoporosis and did not become anorexic until age 36 (my lowest weight was 90 lbs at 5'5.75"). My anorexia was a response to being suddenly thrown into surgical menopause at age 33. It was so traumatic for my body. I had so many debilitating symptoms and my body changed a lot from surgical menopause. When I was a teen I was underweight but NOT anorexic. In fact I ate like a horse. I was training in ballet and modern dance 3-4 hours daily, six days per week. My teachers were not shy about letting me know I had the wrong body type for ballet and I should be thinner, despite already being underweight. This was the mid 1980s when times were different. We were slapped around and called names in class and told to lose weight, things that would be unacceptable now! Even with all that it never occured to be to starve myself until much later in life. But I sure did not develop a positive body image back then! I quit dancing at age 18 and did not go back until my 40s. I really believe the years of being on thyroid meds did not help. In my 30s after finding out about the relationship between thyroid disease and osteoporosis (as well as being on too much thyroid med), I was far more diligent and nagged my doctors to check my thyroid levels 2x year instead of once! in early 2024 instead of 2x it was only checked once from the previous year because I had been out of state taking care of my husband who had a double lung transplant at Cleveland clinic. We had to live there for five months. He then ended up with metastatic lung cancer so I was very very busy between caring for him and work until he passed away a year ago. I did let some tests like thyroid slide and in 2024 it was found my TSH was .01. NOT GOOD. It meant I was on way too much thyroid med and this might have damaged my bones too. However, my Dexa scan in 2024 was stable, no loss, and even slight gains in hips. So IDK. The body is a mystery. Are you on Prolia or any other bone med? Did you have to come off Prolia? I can't find anyone who followed up from Prolia to Reclast where Reclast didn't work, to find out what they did! I dread the thought of going back on prolia.

@teardrop I was on Actonel for years, started having GI issues so a clueless NP had me stop taking it without checking to see how my bones were. I went through menopause on no meds, eventually had a second compression fracture at 59 and found out then how horrible my bones had gotten. My spine was -4.6 I was afraid to do Prolia so I took Fosamax for the next few years, but all that did was keep me the same. I started Evenity in 2023 and did a year of it with great results. I was supposed to start Prolia the next month but ended up having to wait almost 3 months. I had 4 Prolia injections and am scheduled for Reclast next month. I have a DEXA in 2 weeks and praying that I improved more. Over 20 years I have had 5 mild compression fractures and don’t want more. I wasn’t on Prolia as long so hopefully won’t have rebound loss.
