@defleurs , that’s a serious situation. I would immediately seek legal advice on how to protect your marital assets. Estate attorneys who are experienced in guardianships should be able to provide you with options. They can explain what evidence is needed to get authority over the assets in order to protect them. You might also consult with a family law attorney. I might do that immediately, as trying to reason, convince, etc. someone who has cognitive damage is futile. They may not be capable of seeing their status and even if you do convince them, they often forget, so it’s like it never happened.

If he has already signed a Durable Power of Attorney designating another person to manage his finances, that would be great if he would let them step into that role, however with cognitive issues…..he may refuse, since his judgment may be impaired and he can’t see that he’s not capable to continue managing his own affairs.
