I have been on this PMR journey for a few months now. At first with no diagnosis and horrific pain and inability to even walk! Then I was diagnosed, and put on 20mg of prednisone. Relief of pain and stiffness within 8 hours! Amazing.
BUT, then after a week my doc reduced the prednisone to 15mg and all the PMR symptoms came back. So they increased prednisone to 30mg. Which caused multiple side-effect reactions to the prednisone, and I am not taking 5 (yes, that's FIVE) additional drugs just to counteract the prednisone impact on my body!
So, my recommendation would be to stay on the VERY lowest dose of prednisone that will control your PMR symptoms. The side-effects of prednisone are AWFUL!!!!!

@sbgigi Thanks for sharing that. Damn. My heart goes out to you. Your advice resonates with me.

Sounds like we started prednisone around the same time. 15 mg was my starting dose, and wiped out all the PMR symptoms and a bunch of other issues as well.

I'm on Day 3 of 11.25 currently. What's happening is both obvious and confusing. Morning of Day 2 my upper arms were sore AF. Impossible to mis-identify: PMR. As the day went along, the soreness went away, and I felt good. Today, a tiny bit of arm soreness, but overall, I feel good. Planning to sit on 11.25 for a long time, to see if there is a pattern.

Same for me. 4 extra prescriptions (one of those twice a day) plus 5 OTC supplements.
A love hate relationship!
