Taking Calcium or not?

@susanew Glad I read this post! I sure do suffer from IBS C (at the moment, used to be IBS D, now they tell me I am mixed IBS). I questioned my gastro about the 1200 mg calcium (one doctor I saw told me 1200 too much calcium) along with the 50,000 once a week Vitamin D2 the endo had me on (D levels were at 48 after couple of months; he had me continue to take it for 2 years along with 1200 calcium). Gastro said that what I was taking could indeed be constipating; but I felt like he didn't want me to change what another doctor's protocol was. Endo finally agreed to let me off the prescription D and I am cutting back on calcium on my own; don't know if that's a good idea or not. I have been taking psyllium for years; upped it recently (per gastro) and gas is a real problem. IBS is much harder to deal with than osteo in my opinion! Right now trying Miralax; time will tell!

@jozer I thought I had IBS mixed but my doctor explained that when you have IBS C and get really backed up, it eventually explodes when released, causing a lot of stool both soft and hard. Therefore, I thought mixed but doctor explained it definitely is not. If I take Metamucil, I become bloated but no relief. Same with probiotics and yogurt. I have tried calcium of all kinds but my system just cannot tolerate calcium. Same problem with calcium in milk products.
