What has helped you feel less alone in your grief?

@pml Your last sentence really touched me—"I would welcome a new friend." That is such a beautiful example of what can happen when we reach out instead of trying to carry grief alone.
One thing I've learned through grief support is that we don't have to fix someone's grief to help them. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply being willing to listen, sit beside someone, pray with them when that is meaningful to them, and remind them that they don't have to walk alone.
Thank you for being willing to offer that kind of friendship to someone else. Has connecting with others who have experienced loss helped give you a sense of purpose as you've continued your own healing journey?

It has helped to reach out to others who have also lost loved ones. You don't feel so alone. The loneliness is very hard to cope with every day. Small things that you don't even think about become a problem like what to fix for dinner now that I'm only cooking for one. Since my husband died I have felt very lonely. Having someone who is experiencing the same feelings helps a lot. They understand what you are going through.
