I drank (and continue to drink) a lot of water, to the point where my urine is at best very pale yellow, and sometimes almost clear, and that helps with the odor, I think. My urine tends to have very little odor, if any, so make sure you’re drinking enough fluids.

My problem was/is more about the dampness and stickiness associated with it. I use a lot of wash cloths and baby wipes and all that, but part of the problem is that even after cleaning myself, I can’t really let my privates air out, so to speak, but I just do my best with washing and drying.

The exercises are a big help, IMO. Be aware that the way improvement can happen (and frequently does happen, according to my care team) is sort of like an on/off switch - one day, you’re leaking like the devil every time you stand up, and then, for no apparent reason, the next day, you’re not.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of my improvement has been gradual, and a two steps forward, one step back kind of thing, but I’ve also had those moments where something just clicked one day and I was much improved all at once.

I noticed my first significant improvement at two months - I went from a full release each time I got up to go pee overnight to being able to hold it and pee in the toilet. That was one of those things that just clicked and was instantaneous. One night it was a problem, the next night, it wasn’t.

My care team said that’s the usual progression, you’ll see your first improvements overnight, then your mornings will be a little better, then you’ll be a little better into the afternoon, then into the evening, and so forth.

Right now, seven months after my surgery, I’m completely dry overnight, and I can make it all the way to 1PM on just the thinnest shield, leaking around 10ml during that time. My average daily leaking overall is around 100ml.

@turtbean I appreciate these details over time as I approach the treatment decision. It looks more like DaVinci RP. I am 68, T2, PSA 10.8, bilateral cancer, no IDC all contained they think. I have already bought Depends pull ups and wonder about sizing; it smaller better or a slightly bigger size pull up is better? 2+ months out from treatment, I am doing Kegal exercises and walking 1.0 hour per day, with some light weight training. Fingers crossed
