Husband cardiac arrest - 45 min cpr - ECMO - ICU - Hospital stay 50 days, inpatient care 30. Had to learn to swallow, speak, move limbs, still working on walking with walker and arm canes. Happened July 2025. Has balance issues, muscle loss, cognitive challanges, anxiety. He was a healthy 62 year old on no meds and extremely active.
I did not miss a day during this past years ordeal and are still working daily to get back his strength and memory. It will be a long journey....

@kauf1, that experience must have been very scary for you. I'm glad that you found this blog post about PICS-F to learn that the ICU experience can affect family members too - not just the patient.

How are YOU doing now a year later from the cardiac arrest and ICU experience and a year of focus on your husband's recovery?
