I am new to the group. In April I was diagnosed with EPI. No definitive cause was determined. Creon was prescribed and the symptoms have stopped. My food plan is being managed. My question is how do you know that the Creon is working. Yes, the symptoms have been extinguished but am I getting the nutrition? I asked the doctor and a Creon rep and they did not have an answer. I would imagine it would be another elastase stool test.

@caroleepi Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect ! I’m sorry you’ve joined this group of EPI sufferers, but I’m so thankful that MCC is here so we all have a place to get/give help! And you’re correct, no cause has been found. It just comes out of the blue.
You mentioned that your food plan is being managed. How?
I was told that if the diarrhea is controlled and the stools are normal, then you are getting vitamins, etc. from your food. Before, when diarrhea controlled your life, you were malnourished. If I can find a fact-based answer, I’ll let you know
