Your statement is correct, but I hope it is not misunderstood to imply that treatment decisions are simply whatever an individual doctor and patient decide, when in reality there is an important framework that guides those decisions.
I agree that treatment decisions should be individualized in partnership with one's medical team. At the same time, those decisions should ideally be made within the framework of evidence-based guidelines such as those from the NCCN, AUA/ASTRO/etc. These guidelines don't dictate a single treatment for every patient, but they do identify which options are supported by the best available evidence for patients with similar disease characteristics. Individualization is then about choosing the most appropriate guideline-supported option based on the patient's overall health, comorbidities, tumor biology, quality-of-life priorities, and personal preferences—not simply on what another patient chose or what someone heard in a podcast.
