@wheel1 Yes, no one is denying these side effects - certainly not me.
But when faced with a serious cancer diagnosis - ie; serious as in possibly fatal - I don’t think you can afford NOT to gain as much advantage as possible.
Yes, there are some men on this board who have experienced hell and continue to do so ..,but they are vastly LESS in number than those of us who have tolerated the SE’s and completed treatment successfully.
Do I feel badly for those men who have suffered? Absolutely! I wish nothing but the best for all who have to deal with this.
But I would remind everyone that if a drug or treatment helps 90% of the people who take it, and harms 10%, that there is a fantastic drug or treatment. Should the 90% simply languish, not be afforded the treatment or…what???
I was told all the risks of ADT right up front by my RO and his NP; I read about them extensively as well.
Was I afraid to take Orgovyx because of the possible SE’s? NOPE, because dying from the prostate cancer scared me a hell of a lot more!!
I totally get the ‘buyer’s remorse’ if someone disregarded the possible negative outcomes - or worse, was cajoled into going on ADT, but let’s not paint a picture of doom and gloom.
There are others out there with different, less treatable cancers who only WISH they had something like ADT to halt progression in its tracks. Best,
