What is the prognosis for mac and bronchiectasis?

@kathyjjb I am trying to get the sputum counts - only had two labs run and both were abnormal for MAC but I can't read the report well enough to determine the counts. About a year and a half ago a bronchoscopy did not result in a positive culture. I am seeing a 2nd pulmonogist at the Medical College of Gerogia - have not been to NJH yet. I also have both asthma and BE. Not sure which antibiotic is resonsible for the thrush - take azithromycin, rifampin, and ethambutol. I am questioning if i should do a "watch and wait", although the CTs over the past 2 years have shown chronic lung disease and scarring.

@pgpunch If you don't see "counts" which is a number, they probably didn't do it. That's the case with my local labs-they just don't do it. Why not call the lab and ask? Or the doctor that ordered the test. There are BE/NTM Clinics all throughout the US. I don't know if the Medical College of Georgia is on the list, but you could google. I hope you get in quickly to 2nd pulmonologist. I have heard that some physicians arrange to get samples sent to NJH. Well, you don't want to stop the meds until you get to a doctor that specializes in BE/NTM. Fortunately, your MAC is not macrolide resistant, which is the case with my MABC.
