Yes, very interesting. They’ve been touting statins for years as a tool against PCa, but adding Viagra is a novel twist.
I wonder when GLP-1’s will be mentioned? So far, they seem to be the drug du jour for just about everything.
Call me cynical, but every time I read news like this I wonder if drug companies are combing vast data bases to find even a hint that a drug of theirs ‘might’ be associated with some kind of benefit in treating a completely different disease. Apply for a new patent use and voila - a new revenue stream…
Of course, it DOES happen, but everything is just so hyped today by social media you really have to wonder if it’s real or total BS.
However, still a good article and food for thought…

In this instance it's a new application of older, well-established drugs, concentrating on blocking cholesterol which is necessary, apparently, in order for cancer cells to spread.
In addition to using mouse models, data that had been collected over 20 years from some 5 million Israeli health organization members showed that survival rates were highest among the cancer (lung, colon, and prostate) patients who had taken both sildenafil and statins six months before their diagnosis. They are particularly hopeful this will be useful in combating breast cancer.
Unfortunately some of their research was lost when their lab was hit by an Iranian missile last June!
But as for GLP-1s, Phil, yes it does seem as if more and more data keeps coming out showing a myriad of positive effects from their use, often in unexpected ways (addictive behaviors, in particular, being one of them).
