@marshallfeller Hi, my husband is trying to decide between HDR Brachytherapy , SBRT, and surgery. You posted this a long time ago. How are you doing now? Did you have symptoms 1-3 years after treatment? Any recurrence? If you don’t mind sharing I would like to hear. My husband will be treated at Mayo Rochester, and Dr Jessica Wilson is one of the doctors we have met with. Thanks and I hope you are doing well!

You Need to buy a lot more information before somebody give me a feedback Why on w Wehat would be best to do?

What was his Gleason score? What was his PSA at time of diagnosis?

Were any of these things found in the biopsy intraductal, ductal, large cribriform, Seminal vesicle invasion, EPE or ECE. (Extraprostatic extensions extra capsular extensions). They can make the cancer much more aggressive.

Did he have a PSMA PET scan, did it find any metastasis outside the prostate?

I decided on surgery because my father had radiation and died of prostate cancer. Mine came back 3 1/2 years anfter surgery and I had salvage radiation. It has come back three more times since then, but the right drugs are keeping me undetectable for the last 33 months after 16 years of prostate cancer.

These days they can do surgery that has a very good chance of you still having continents and not having erectile dysfunction. It depends on where you go to be treated.

If you just get radiation, then it is very likely you will have corrective function within a couple years because they can’t spare the nerves.

Some things to think about and some information we really need to help more.

Jessica Wilson MD is an exceptional doctor. She has a great deal of experience and takes the time so you understand the procedure. It has been over 3 years for me and I have no ongoing difficulties or side effects. Testing PSA 2x a year with no indication of recurrence. I had the choice of HDR Brachytherapy or proton (5 treatments over 2 weeks). I chose HDR to reduce travel.
