@donnagail If it works for you, then do it! I didn’t say diet causes flareups. After 35 years of flareups, I am aware. One of the major causes is extreme stress. For me it started out as heat stress. Every single summer, never fail, it would come out of remission once the temps went above 90. At that time I had a son just starting first grade so it was impossible for me to avoid going out in the summer heat. As I got older other types of stress came into play and now it just goes in and out on its own. Doesn’t even have to be stress related. Because it is an autoimmune disease, it does worsen with age. In my case, I developed cardiovascular disease from it. Everything else was ruled out for the cause, i.e. not in my family, I’m not overweight, I have normal to low blood pressure, my cholesterol is fine, I am very active and get lots of exercise. But MC will cause it after years of having it. Several years ago, out of the blue, I suddenly had to have AAA bypass, double femoral bypass surgery. And in the middle of surgery I had a heart atttack!
