Severe tortuosity and redundant colon

Hi. I am new to this forum, and really appreciate the thoughtful and helpful suggestions and observations. I have known for some time that I have a tortuous / redundant colon, but now in my mid-70s am truly feeling the effects of this condition. One primary issue is occasional but urgent bouts of “bypass diarrhea,” which have negatively affected my quality of life. I’ve tried many things without success, am now considering a moderate dose of Metamucil in the AM, to firm things up, followed later in the day or early evening by a moderate dose of MiraLAX, to draw H2O into the colon overnight in order to lubricate the colon and render easier passage and thus eliminate the bypass diarrhea issue. Would greatly appreciate any comments, thoughts, suggestions or personal experiences that you feel might be helpful. Thank you. Jim

@jamesalymer Hi...from lots of experience with Metamucil I have come to the conclusion that with a t/r colon...it's not good for me at all. Our shape of colon has too many loops where all that metamucil can get stuck. One GI said it "causes a traffic jam and back up." Plus, for me it makes me so bloated. I have changed to 1 scoop Sunfiber and 1 cap of Miralax a day. I find it helpful enough right now.
Hope this comment helps.
