Each case is completely different, so I can only address my particular case. I am very happy with my surgery results.
I had a “complete proximal hamstring from the ischial tuberosity, so I didn’t really feel I had much of a choice. Mine was “retracted distantly approximately 7cm and redundant.
I feel I had a good surgeon and also a good Physical therapist. Recovery wasn’t easy, but in my case I am extremely pleased with my results.
My surgery was about 10 1/2 months ago.
I was very nervous and frightened making my decision. It is not a common surgery, so I understand your concerns.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m still on the fence whether or not I’m going to have the surgery. I have a 90% tendon detachment but my hamstring is still attached. It’s not retracted. I am 3 1/2 weeks from the injury and I’m walking good I was just in the pool swimming laps, squatting doing heel raises and I feel good. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday so I need to noodle on this this weekend and make my decision by Monday.
