I’ve had one injection of Prolia so far.
I was diagnosed with osteopenia a few years ago. I recently had a fractured sacrum, due to steroids prescribed for an autoimmune arthritis I am dealing with this year.
I can’t take Evinity, because I have a-fib and had a TIA last year ; they said it could cause a stroke.
So many side effects from all these health conditions as we age!
I feel my PMR (the arthritis autoimmune disease), may be stress related, it was precipitated by my two cervical fusions last year. Two, because the first one failed.
So even though I have osteopenia, the standard treatment for PMR is prednisolone. That treatment caused my sacrum to fracture in two places; there was no fall, just by walking around for an afternoon, enjoying watching our grandchildren play soccer., then driving home- we live two hours away. Sorry to vent, but I do want to warn others how important it can be to be proactive with our health care. If getting this injection every six months prevents me from having another fracture in my spine I am all for it.
I haven’t noticed any side effects from the first injection. I will post again on any changes. All the best to everyone who is going through similar issues!
I have Medicare plus plan G so my cost for injections is covered, it is same as plan F (no longer available) except we have an annual deductible.
